Owls Blank Stetson

Oct. 12, 2005

Box Score

DeLAND, FL - The defense was smothering and the offense relentless as Florida Atlantic University defeated Stetson 3-0 in women's soccer Wednesday.

Katri Nokso-Koivisto scored the game's first goal from 25 yards out in the 29th minute. Danielle DiLeo scored in the 40th minute, giving her goals in back-to-back contests. The goal was her sixth of the season.

Christina Chang, who also assisted on the Nokso-Koivisto goal, would put the game out of reach with her goal in the 50th minute from 10 yards out.

The Owls (11-3-1, 6-0-1) allowed just one shot on goal for the second consecutive game. Jessica Badders got the start and made the lone stop in the first half. Megan Coyne played the second half but was not asked to make a save, extending her shutout streak to 480 minutes. The shutout is the team's 11th of the season, tying the program record set in 2002.

With the win, FAU inches closer to clinching a top spot in the conference tournament. They have won four in a row, and are unbeaten in their last 10.

Next up for Florida Atlantic is Mercer on Saturday at 7 p.m.
