Dexter LaMont, hired as the Director of Marketing for Florida Atlantic University in July of 2002, has received a promotion and will assume the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing. In his new position, he will continue to develop the marketing and promotion areas in an effort to increase attendance at all home events, enhancing advertising inventory, and incorporating client needs into game day experiences, all in an effort to increase spectator interaction. However his new position will also encompass the oversight of ticket sales, merchandise and the university's coordination efforts with collegiate licensing and Strategic Marketing Affiliates (SMA).

Since coming to Florida Atlantic LaMont has been directly responsible for the cheer and mascot programs, the dance team and the elevation of the marketing program and staff at FAU. With his new responsibilities, he will now also oversee corporate sales, who also work with SMA and the ticket sales staff.

Prior to joining FAU, LaMont served two years as the director of women's marketing and promotions at Oklahoma State University. His duties included the marketing management of all Cowgirl athletics, including game operations and public and community relations. Prior to his appointment at OSU, LaMont was a marketing assistant at Florida State University for two years. His primary responsibilities included marketing management for volleyball, softball, and all other Seminoles Olympic sports. He also assisted in a similar capacity with football and women's basketball.

LaMont graduated from Florida State University in 1998, and is married to the former Shannon Edwards.
